No doubt God is merciful, the Bible definitely teaches that, but why does He
show mercy, and how can we be sure we have received it?
This is where the Bible is so valuable to us. I am so glad that you
believe the Bible is God's message to us, because John, a dear friend and
disciple of Jesus wrote in a letter to the church these wonderful, assuring
words:
/bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/color>"/smaller>/color>My
purpose in writing is simply this: that you who believe in God's Son will know
beyond the shadow of a doubt that you have eternal life, the reality and not the
illusion./bigger>/bigger>/color>"
/bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/color> /bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/bigger>/color>1
John 5:13
So what is it that John wrote that could possibly give such an assurance? The
key is the phrase "you who believe in God's Son."
