Even if some people do believe in God simply because they want to, this in
itself does not prove or disprove God's existence. You cannot infer from a psychological state
to the proof or disproof of any alleged fact. Sometimes people do believe things because
they want them to be true. They also believe things (or refuse to believe them) because they want
them to be false.
The truth or falsehood of God's existence rests on facts and evidences beyond
the emotions and desires of my heart and yours.
Sometimes people deny God's existence because they don't want to have to
face Him if indeed He does exist. I understand that apprehension, but if
He does exist, and if He wants your attention, you may run from such a powerful being,
but you can't hide. Eventually you will have to face Him, on his terms.
Most people throughout the ages have believed (and it is a distinct
possibility) that such a Creator will judge us for our actions on this earth.
Therefore it makes sense to
investigate and see if He has communicated with his creation. This means
investigating religion. Of course there are many religions in the world.
For the sake of your eternal destiny it is prudent to determine (based on the
evidence) which religion is true.
The good news is, there are indisputable facts
indicating He not only has communicated with us, but that He loves us, and has
personally provided a means to bring forgiveness for our shortcomings.
Shortcomings that
instinctively cause us to fear Him.
